Praying the Psalms

http://www.bloggingtheologically.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/psalms.jpg
I have recently read in several  very  different books about praying the Psalms, or praying God's Word. The one book was a very modern book, and their approach was very spirit-filled. In another book, it was actually a Jewish man that taught a Christian woman how to pray from scripture. Either way, the idea is to internalize the scripture; to make it your own; to "own" God's promises.
I got to thinking about it, and decided I'd like to try something new.
So starting the 1st of June, I will be praying from one of the Psalms each day.

I welcome you to do this journey with me. It will be a long journey (there are 150 psalms, so we're talking about 5 months). You may not be ready to commit for the duration, but give a week a try-- or challenge yourself to a month. See if God does not bless you-- if in no other way than by you learning more about scripture!
Let me know if this is something you decide to do-- I think it will be very eye-opening, and I pray it will be a blessing to each one of you!

1/2 Fat, Less Sugar Chocolate Chip Cookies

My sister came up with this idea on accident. While making chocolate chip cookies one day, she decided to double the recipe, but forgot to double the butter. And the crazy thing is, they turned out great.
And a long time ago, I decided to cut the sugar back when I made cookies, because we just can't handle the taste of so much sugar. I played around with amounts, and finally fine tuned it-- enough sugar to be a yummy cookie, but not so much you can only handle one!
Another piece of advice-- I usually freeze about half of the cookies, so we have premade cookies ready for later. They seem to taste just fine after they are thawed!

1/2 Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 Cup (2 Sticks) Butter
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar
3 tsp. Vanilla extract
4 Eggs
5 Cups Flour
2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 tsp. Salt
4 tsp. Water (or 1 Tbsp. + 1 tsp.)
3 Cups Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, brown sugar, & vanilla. Add eggs. Stir in flour, soda, salt, and water until mixed. Add chocolate chips.
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Makes approximately 6 dozen cookies.

Another Exciting Crowdtap Opportunity!

I can't believe that I got selected for another Old Navy sample share so soon!
I just received the invite for a swimwear sample share, where I get a free swim suit, and so does a friend!
I mean, seriously, isn't this swim suit adorable?!?

They even have cute "Control Max" swimsuits, which might be what I need, since I'm still sporting some extra chubbiness from my sweet little 11 month old boy!
Not bad looking, right? In fact, it's actually pretty cute!
Anyway, I just had to share the excitement!

Also, my husband was selected to host a McCormick Grill Mates party, so we will be having a fun BBQ as well! Yay for Crowdtap!

If you're interested in opportunities like this, you should join Crowdtap!

Featured Earnings

Crowdtap

I love crowdtap.com. It's an easy way to earn a little extra money without having to spend hours doing surveys. The earnings obviously aren't as quick as with some other sites, but the amount of time you put into Crowdtap is FAR less than with most earning sites.

I check Crowdtap whenever I'm online, to see if there are more quickhits-- these are simple questions that you answer, and earn points. Occasionally in the quickhits there will be what is called a Web Share Challenge-- these are the easiest way to earn money. You view the content, and if you decide you want to share it, you simply accept the challenge. Then it will share the content on your facebook page. For every person who views and rates the content, you earn 25 points, and if 5 people view and rate, you earn an additional 800 points. It takes 20000 points to earn a $10 amazon gift card, but the web share challenges get you there quickly and easily. Don't forget that you can rate your own web shares, as well, and if you get several friends signed up with Crowdtap, the Web Share Challenges are really quite simple.

Plus, Crowdtap offers some fun earning opportunities. I was recently chosen for an exciting opportunity that was offered through Old Navy. It was called the Old Navy Bottoms Bonanza. I received coupons for myself and 3 friends to go to Old Navy and get free bottoms (shorts, pants, skirts, etc) and a free pair of shoes or sandals! I couldn't believe how generous Old Navy was! We had so much fun trying on different outfits, and then everyone went home with some great merchandise-- FOR FREE!!!
And if that wasn't great enough, I also earned a lot of points for the party! For an accepted report after the party, you earn 4,000 points. An excellent report gets you 10,000 points, and if you get the top award you can get 40,000 points!

Welcome!

I'm so glad you're checking out my blog!
Why did I start this blog?
Well, I've been making monthly menus for some time. Recently, one of my friends posted a question about my menu on my facebook wall. I was amazed by how many people started asking questions about it:
  • Where do I get ideas for a menu?
  • How does it work?
  • Can I help them plan a menu, too?
I guess I hadn't realized that what I was doing was so out of the ordinary. But it created the thought of this blog. I also have people ask me all the time about yardsaling, and earning extra money online.

Who am I?
My name is Jamie. I'm a full-time mom to 2 year old Emma and 10 month old Trevor. They bring so much joy to my life! My husband is an amazingly supportive, hardworking man. Dan works long hours so that we can provide for our family and to allow me to be at home with the kids.
I know a lot of people think that women who stay at home must just have husbands who make a lot of money-- not so! Well, I guess that might be the case for some women, but not me!
I'm able to stay at home because we have budgeted (I know- bad word!) our money, and have cut back enough to live within our means. We have cut out all unnecessary spending. It's a sacrifice, but it's important to us.
If this is something that you're interested in, you'll want to keep checking back here.
